ART AND HEALTH
It is NSAH's goal to strengthen health, wellbeing and quality of life - to support the UN's goals locally and globally. Good health is an important resource in everyday life. Our mission is to identify and activate the strengths and resources we already have as human beings and which are so important to a healthy and good life. We work with a resource-based health perspective, called Salutogenesis, which focuses on the interplay between body, soul and mind, and between the individual and society. It is our firm conviction that art and creative expression can be used as a tool where verbal communication is not enough. Likewise, music, drama, storytelling, poetry and painting can activate the potentials and resources that we already have as human beings.

Creativity and mental health in Danish primary schools - a research project
April 2020, we begin a one-year research project on art and mental health among students in Danish primary schools. One goal is to develop a learning method to integrate the teacher's own interests in the arts into teaching At the core is the teacher's importance for enhancing students' creativity by including their own interests for art in teaching - eks literature, music, theater and storytelling. In the course, teachers will work on the topic in selected workshops with high profile Danish writers, artists, musicians and actors. The project includes a conference to integrate storytelling into primary school.
A Danish approach to artistic formation: 7 - day retreat in Copenhagen
We are currently working on a weekly program where professionals in the art and teaching world in USA come to Copenhagen to gain insight into how we in Denmark teach through various artistic expressions. As professionals, we often give a lot of ourselves, which is fun and interesting, but also demanding, both professionally and personally. During this 7 - day retreat, participants are introduced to a Danish approach to teaching artistic subjects. This includes meetings with prominent professionals from the Danish art scene, teachers, researchers as well as opportunities to work with the role of art creation and how to integrate one's own interests for art in teaching.
WELL-BEING & HEALTH IN THE WORKPLACE
Physical and mental health are among the biggest challenges in society today. It has an impact on the individual's quality of life, the social economy and our ability to solve our core tasks. Rather than building on existing beliefs and assumptions about well-being and work environment, we help top executives to gain a clear idea of what is going on in the workplace, its culture and its challenges. Our enquiries are guided by opportunity thinking, driven by hope and dominated by a bottom-up perspective.

Modern organizations are in need of passionate and creative people. New research shows that creativity and innovation are inter-linked. STRESS & ART THERAPY
Stress is one of the biggest public diseases in Denmark right now. The World Health Organization (WHO) foresees that stress will be one of the major causes of disease in the year 2020. The negative stress is increasingly experienced throughout society, in schools and institutions for children and young people, in the workplace, in traffic and even at home. The experts all agree that a major cause must be found in an ever-increasing process of social acceleration. We can no longer expect the future conditions to be an extrapolation of the past. This is where Expressive Arts Therapy comes in. It draws inspiration from indigenous cultures' approach to crises, transformation and human welfare. In tribal communities, the rite of passage is an essential element. Similarly, the focus of art therapy is to provide tools for dealing with difficult transitions. Art therapy works with stress and challenging transitions in ways that that views these states as being part of life. NSAH targets workplaces and organizations that want to incorporate stress management, self-care and mindfulness as integral part of working life.
